Charged with bringing current a 20-year-old design, designer Jan Regis, CMKBD of Binns Kitchen + Bath Design responded by turning this ensuite bath into a spa-inspired retreat, suitable for users of all ages. Striving for a more modern style, Regis and the homeowners settled on a color palette of taupes and beiges, accented by honed Nero Assoluto granite countertops and carbon porcelain tiles. To accommodate a disabled family member and young grandchildren, Regis built a space with an unusual shape, including an asymmetrical tub by Neptune, to allow users a wide berth.
A blend of environmentally friendly materials and a subtle, contemporary European flair define this bath, designed by Cheryl Hamilton-Gray, CKD of Hamilton-Gray Design. Meant as a second bath/private retreat, the space includes a bidet from Duravit’s Darling line, thick white CaesarStone countertops and backsplash and Plyboo cladding on the walls. Green materials Hamilton-Gray specified include low-flow fixtures, a Geberit dual flush system, a tankless, on-demand water heater from Noritz and Panasonic’s WhisperGreen ventilation fans, among others.
Lori Carroll and Mary Roles of Lori Carroll & Associates created this adventurous and eclectic master bath for a client with an ultramodern home and a chic design sensibility. According to the pair, the focal point of the space is the curvilinear shower, the central element in the photo above, ringed by a glass countertop upon which sits a lav sink from Elkay and faucet from Grohe. The laminate cabinetry from Fairfield Cabinetry adds warmth and is intersected with suspended glass shelving for the homeowners’ objets d’arts.
The concept of a classic his-and-hers bath was turned on its head by Peter Ross Salerno, CMKBD, and Shannon Gallagher-Hall of Peter Salerno, Inc. The centerpiece is a freestanding quartersawn island that matches the quartered oak double doors, but contrasts with the white maple Craft-Maid Cabinetry. An antique-style freestanding tub from Waterworks with period fixtures from Perrin & Rowe sits in the large, central window. Subtle greens and neutrals add to the spacious, airy feel, including limestone flooring with insert tiles, stones and pewter accents.
