We just received some information on a pretty cool materials recycling program called Save-A-Sample which serves the New York metro/Washington, DC/Chicago/Philadelphia art population. More information after the jump.
From the program’s organizer: Save A Sample! creates “another life” for design firms unused materials: fabrics, brochures etc., by donating them to design schools. Students benefit by having a professional set of resources to work with. Save A Sample! has collected over 10 tons of materials and raised over $50,000 in scholarships since its inception.Last years scholarships were distributed to the Art Institute, FIT, Kean University, NYIT, Parsons, Pratt and School of Visual Arts.
