Given the green light for this Ferrari-inspired remodel kitchen,
Lisa B. Cortese, CKD, and Dan Giffin of Santa Cruz, CA-based Easy
Care Cabinetry put the pedal to the metal.
Mixing together colors and materials reflective of the
automotive industry, the pair created a space that sped away with
the client’s imagination.
“The red lacquer finish, the gentle curves and the clean design
of the cabinetry give the kitchen a feeling of lyrical velocity,”
she states. To that end, the pair selected Snaidero cabinets, which
are complemented by Zodiaq and custom glass countertops.
Adding function to the space, Cortese and Giffin integrated a
variety of high-end products, including a Gaggenau steam oven,
electric oven and ventilation; a Fisher Paykel dishwasher; a
Sub-Zero refrigerator and wine cooler, a Panasonic microwave; and a
Miele coffee system.
Enhancing the design, Cortese adds, is 12″x12″ marble and bamboo
clear finish wood flooring, as well as custom stainless steel trim
and window sill and frosted glass panels with halogen light
strips.
She explains, “The ceiling and floor change in the kitchen area
provides a more intimate atmosphere while maintaining the open
setting for entertaining.”
She notes that the island features a cooking area for a chef,
while the expansive Franke sink and adjacent counters can
accommodate professional caterers. Franke faucets continue the
sleek theme, while a window installed over the sink offers a peek
into the client’s car collection.
