Anthony Binns, CKD, CBD, of Binns Kitchen & Bath Design in
Pickering, Ontario, Canada, believes in love at first sight at
least when it comes to kitchen displays. For a display to really be
effective, it needs to immediately grab customers’ attention
something he was clearly able to do with this curvy kitchen
display.
He explains, “This display stands apart from the others by
entertaining a more unusual or whimsical look, [which] encourages
the interest of those walking by.”
To accomplish this, Binns enlisted the use of an unusual
refrigerator design, which features two 60cm integrated Liebheer
refrigerators and a 20cm filler between them, creating four curved
doors.
Binns furthered the ‘curve’ theme through the use of a Miele
hood fan with an arch bottom, chairs and stools with a bow to them,
bent laminate panels on the back of the island and a rounded eating
bar.
Because the display faces a front window, which makes it very
bright in the afternoon, Binns chose a rich cherry laminate for the
SieMatic cabinetry. The surface also provides dramatic reflection
under night lights. Corian countertops and Mannington laminate
flooring add a feeling of richness to the display.
Complementing the overall design and adding to its functionality
are stainless steel appliances, including a cooktop, oven and
dishwasher from Miele; and a Panasonic microwave. A custom Man of
Steel sink and fittings from KWC finish out the design.
