Live from the K/BIS show floor 2009’s Satellite Media Tour

Kitchen & Bath Design News will once again be hosting a satellite media tour from the show floor at K/BIS, to be held this year at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta from May 1 through May 3. Hosted by KBDN Editor Janice Costa, the tour will showcase several of the latest products being introduced at the show. The tour will be shown on live television across the U.S. on the first morning of the event.

Below is more information about some of the hottest products at this year's K/BIS.

ATLANTIS OUTDOOR CABINETRY BAMBOO DOORS
In keeping with the natural surroundings of the outdoor kitchen, Atlantis Outdoor Cabinetry now offers outdoor kitchens with bamboo doors, an exceptionally green product because it is made from a rapidly renewing resource.

Atlantis Outdoor Cabinetry gives consumers and designers the freedom to have a custom kitchen outdoors for entertaining, grilling or escaping. While most outdoor kitchens resemble steel battleships or stone caves, kitchens from Atlantis Outdoor Cabinetry offer the look of an indoor kitchen, complete with cabinets that provide functional storage and high-end appliances. All of its kitchens are waterproof and designed to stand up to even the toughest elements, yet are easy to clean for outdoor living.

BLANCO SILGRANIT II SINK
The Silgranit II sink from Blanco is a composite stone sink made primarily from granite. The sink won’t stain, scratch or chip, and it is heat resistant. Available in five colors, the highly durable sink provides a natural stone look but is easy to clean. Unlike natural granite sinks, this version never has to be treated to keep its cleanability.

BOSCH 800 PLUS DISHWASHER
Bosch dishwashers have been ranked #1 in customer satisfaction by J.D. Power & Associates for the past three years. The newest entry, the 800 Plus dishwasher, is the most efficient dishwasher on the market using as little as 1.5 gallons of water per cycle versus the average 5 gallons, and 180kWh/y versus 360 kWh/y. At 40 decibels, it is the quietest dishwasher offered in the U.S. Features include a third rack, flexible racking systems that allow for large roasting pans or 15 complete place settings, and a silverware holder that can go anywhere in the unit. The dishwasher also includes an advancement on Bosch's AquaStop - patented four-part leak protection system, which uses sensors to shut off the water and drain the unit if a leak is sensed.

BROAN LITE XE 15" TRASH COMPACTOR
The 15” Broan Elite XE Trash Compactor features a crushing mechanism with 3,000 pounds of continual force, which reduces six bags of garbage to one. This means fewer bags, fewer steps to the curb, less potential removal cost and less volume to the landfill.

The unit can be built-in or freestanding at the end of a counter, or in a pantry, closet or garage. A six-month, auto-advance, odor-neutralizing control system with disc-change indicator, easy-to-clean, removable compacting plate that is dishwasher safe, programmable compaction cycle and child lock with removable key are among its offerings. All models feature finger-print-resistant finishes on top and sides, and six door finishes – White, Black, Stainless Steel Flat, Stainless Steel Arched, Wood Trim Panel and Tile Trim Panel. The freestanding model offers optional Toe Kick Kit and hard maple 1”-thick cutting board.

The retail price for the compactor starts at $750.

LG ELECTRONICS BUILT-IN GAS COOKTOP
LG Electronics has expanded its collection of kitchen appliances to include a new built-in gas cooktop with a high-end stylish design and powerful performance with its many professional-grade features.

The cooktop features five burners, ranging in power from 5,000 to 19,000 BTUs. The middle burner’s 19,000 BTU output is a feature most often seen on professional or commercial-grade cooktops.

The appliance’s commercial design features contemporary, stainless steel styling, with industrial-sized knobs placed at the front for easier access. Heavy duty continuous grate covers all of the burners, adding to the professional appearance. LED lights indicate when a burner is in use or may still be hot to the touch.

The gas cooktop will be available in a 36" option in September 2009 for $1,399.
