PMI Boosts U.S. Initiative On Fair
Trade
Schaumburg, IL The Plumbing Manufacturers Institute (PMI) has
signed a memorandum of understanding with the U.S. Commerce Dept.
that would “level the playing field around the world and promote a
better understanding of trade issues,” the association announced
last month.
Barbara Higgens, executive director of the Schaumburg, IL-based
PMI, said she had signed the memorandum in an effort to “create an
avenue to enhance international trade opportunities for plumbing
product manufacturers, and to help ensure a level playing field for
them in global competition.”
According to PMI president Ralph Herrbach, the PMI-Commerce
Dept. agreement will ensure better utilization by plumbing products
manufacturers of the Commerce Dept.’s export promotion programs,
and will help facilitate government assistance for manufacturers
facing foreign trade barriers.
“We are pleased about this opportunity,” said Herrbach, who is
also president of Cifial USA.
