Clearing the Air

Product Review

February 2009

The issue of indoor air quality has been reviewed and debated for many years, and concern has increased as newer buildings have become more airtight. While these newly designed residences provide greater energy efficiency, proper fresh air circulation has suffered.

Manufacturers of ventilation products have risen to the challenge, however, providing units that promote cleaner, clearer air and, as a result, opportunities for better health. In conjunction with this, companies are also focusing on “greening” their products, providing energy-conserving features and even striving for Energy Star ratings.

And, while the focus is on function, style is not taking a back seat. Sleek stainless designs intermingle with custom shapes that resemble works of art and materials that include copper, glass and wood. Task lighting, remote controls and quiet operation are among the special features included in current designs.
