Safe & Stylish

Product review

April 2008

As kitchen and bath designers become more accustomed to incorporating products that promote Universal Design, their ability to design aging-in-place spaces becomes more refined.

These products provide not only aesthetic benefits, but also safety and greater accessibility – and in homes where several generations live under the same roof, these benefits are significant.

Universal Design elements for kitchens include cool-to-the-touch induction cooktops, touchless faucets, raised appliances and easy-access cabinetry. In the bath, curbless showers with seats, grab bars and ergonomic handshowers are popular – and many of these feature upscale designs to fit any design theme.
