What it is: An app that serves as a mobile, full-featured file manager.
What it does: Cloud-based servers are the new norm; however, being able to edit and send files from these servers is a newer technology. Transmit allows the user full remote file management on FTP, SFTP, WebDAV, DreamObjects or Amazon S3 servers. It is possible to upload, download, rename, edit permissions, make folders, etc. In addition, files from any iOS app that uses the standard system “Share” sheet, such as Photos or Voice Memos, can be sent with one tap of the “Transmit” button. Another feature allows users to edit documents within compatible third-party apps that implement the iCloud document picker – opening and saving files in these apps will relay the changes back to Transmit and be uploaded onto the connected server. Finally, Panic Sync will sync saved servers, passwords and private keys between all devices that have Transmit for iOS, Coda for iOS and Coda for Mac. The app is $9.99 on iTunes.
Who it’s for: Designers, builders, contractors, homeowners and anyone who is interested in having full access to server and cloud-based files from a mobile device.
Why kitchen and bath designers need it: Designers can easily access and send files from various programs and apps to clients and co-workers.
Available Since: Sept. 17, 2014
