‘Red Dot’ Award Broadens Scope

ESSEN, GERMANY — Red Dot, the global awards program that cites unique and distinctive product brands, has broadened the platform in its annual competition for communication design, competition officials announced.

According to contest officials, the “Red Dot Award: Communication Design” will now be called the “Red Dot Award: Brands & Communication Design.”

“We’ve decided to respond to developments in the market, and to adapt the competition accordingly,” said Peter Zec, CEO of the Red Dot Award. “It has become repeatedly clear to us that they our participants and award-winners want to present themselves as integrated brands,” he added. “We are now making this possible.”

Companies can choose from 36 industries, including some with kitchen and bath ties, in which to register for the distinction “Red Dot: Brand of the Year.” Marketing, product and public-relations managers can submit communication works that portray a consistent image of their brand across different channels – including logos, advertisements, packaging and websites – contest officials said.

Submissions will be accepting until June 28, with an awards ceremony set for Nov. 1, contest officials said. Additional information can be obtained by visiting www.red-dot.org/cd.
