Good Mornings
Katie & Jesse Kath
JKath Design + Build, Mendota Heights, MN

Creating a sense of separate spaces within this 130-sq.-ft. bathroom in Minneapolis was the task at hand for designers Katie and Jesse Kath, as a separate area for the shower, tub, vanity and toilet were all important factors to the homeowners in their morning routines. Ensuring privacy from showering to using the toilet were large considerations, as was making the space feel open enough to stand on its own in an en suite environment.
Separating the shower and toilet on opposite ends of the bathroom created a larger main area for the custom JKath Design + Build vanity. Locating the tub on the opposite wall ensures each person has their own areas while keeping a calming aesthetic.
Radiant in-floor heating saves energy and adds to the room’s overall comfort level. Classic Statuario field tile from Jeffrey Court provides a neutral base on the floor, and coordinates with the Coit Nouveau Mosaic Statuario on the shower floor, accented by the Mod Herringbone Mosaic natural stone tile in Bardiglio on the shower walls.
