Amanda Davis, department chair, Interior Design at Portland Community College (PCC), Sylvania Campus in Portland, OR is described by those who know her as a supportive, intelligent and inquisitive educator who only wants the best for her students and staff. She has created relationships with the leaders in the industry, and they look to her for new hires for their own businesses. PCC graduates are highly sought after throughout the U.S.
PCC is the only residential interior design program in the state of Oregon, and Davis has put together a program that is respected nationally. She has created a core of technical cutting-edge classes and, as a consummate learner, she encourages staff to bring new ideas to the program. She is supportive and encouraging to both staff and students.
Before assuming the department chair position at PCC, Davis completed a master’s degree in Interior Design at the University of Oregon and worked as an interior designer for Gensler and as an educator at the Art Institute of Portland.
