Nar Bustamante of Nar Fine Carpentry was assigned the task of updating this builder-grade kitchen in order to take full advantage of the dramatic angles of the home’s mid-century modern architecture and stunning garden views.
Warm, off-white walls and linear-patterned cabinets were chosen to harmonize with the existing travertine floors and reflect the hues of the outdoors. The cypress cabinets extend to the peak of the sloped ceil- ing, providing ample storage, as well as a visually striking focal wall. An island topped with soft white Dekton quartz and an attached table with a chocolate-colored quartz top pro- vide plenty of work and dining space. The rich color of the table is reflected in a pair of etched glass bi-fold wall cabinets. A pendant that resembles an artichoke adds some unique mid-century flair to the space.
Bustamante notes that the kitchen was designed to be highly functional as well as beautiful. Small appliances can be stored and easily accessed behind stainless steel tambour doors, ensuring the kitchen always appears tidy. The movable accessories in The Galley sink create a convenient, multi-function workspace.
