This quaint, one-of-a-kind residence in St. Petersburg, Fla., presented many design and specification challenges due to strict budgetary parameters, home site constraints and lofty client desires. Despite these difficulties, a home was unveiled that far exceeded the clients' expectations and truly exemplified design excellence and uncompromised quality.
Although the home's design stems from the Anglo-Caribbean vernacular, there are modern touches and details found throughout that are distinctive and bold. The juxtaposition of the old and new gives the home real personality and texture. This is exactly what the clients' wishes were — combining old with new elements in a relatively compact British West Indies wrapper.
The home features virtually ever amenity one might expect in a residence of this caliber. From a mouth-watering gourmet kitchen to a lavish master suite and whole-home automation, the home's exterior and interior spaces flow seamlessly. Their synergistic relationship creates a real sense of openness and grandeur. In addition, the rear of the home has an enormous amount of glass allowing the majority of the rooms to have views of the water and downtown St. Petersburg.
The home was green-built to the highest standards and has both passive and active environmental technologies working together.
