Custom Cupboards Changes Name, Updates Goals

Wichita, KS — Custom Cupboards, Inc., a 35-year veteran of the cabinetry manufacturing industry, has changed its name to R.D. Henry & Company, LLC and plans to transition ownership from its founders to its two top leaders in the next few years.

The new name is in honor of the brothers, Ron and Dan Henry, who started the business in 1981. Today the company employs more than 200 people and provides cabinets to a network of dealers in 37 states.

“This is a proud day for our company,” commented Mael Hernandez, CEO and president of the newly named R.D. Henry & Company. “With the legacy of the Henry brothers, we have a strong foundation and we’ve been building on that together for the last few years, to position the company for continued growth and a future that honors them.”

Ron and Dan Henry are transitioning ownership to Hernandez and Chris Flickinger over the next few years. Hernandez has been with Custom Cupboards for six years, and Flickinger has served as CFO for eight years.

“This has been part of a succession plan that allows continued local ownership, which is important to the Henrys, because we care about this business, its employees and customers, and the jobs created for our community,”
Hernandez said.

The brothers, who prefer to stay out of the public part of the business, will continue to be involved in strategic business decisions. Day-to-day operations will continue to be run by Hernandez and Flickinger, as they have for several years.

According to Hernandez and Flickinger, the company will continue to focus on innovation, flexibility, lean manufacturing, design, quality and value.

“Those are the hallmarks of our success, and our focus will be to continue to build on them,” Flickinger said.

Details of the sale or terms of the transition are not being released. A new logo is under development. Full integration of the new logo will take place over the next few months.
