German Kitchen Center Changes Name, Launches Future Initiatives
New York — German Kitchen Center, the national kitchen chain and cabinetry retailer with 17 showrooms across the country, is renaming to Global Kitchen Concepts (GKC). The new name is inspired by the company’s broader commitment to establish partnerships with the world’s most exceptional kitchen brands ranging in style and origin, the firm reports.
To that end, GKC has signed a long-term agreement in partnership with kathy ireland Worldwide to establish 17 designer kitchen showrooms throughout the U.S., the company announced. The partnership, branded as kathy ireland Kitchens by GKC, “will provide everything needed for all projects in the family kitchen,” said GKC. kathy ireland Worldwide, headquartered in Rancho Mirage, CA and known for both its products and its humanitarian endeavors, is spearheaded by Kathy Ireland, a model, actress and TV personality turned author, activist and entrepreneur. She founded the marketing and licensing company in 1993. Since then, the business has grown to represent brands that include fashion apparel, jewelry, gifts and products for the home.
“Kathy Ireland and her entire team are embracing a phenomenal and rare approach to everything they do by being kind-hearted, loving, caring-about-people first, and running the organization as a family,” said Mayan Metzler, chairman and CEO of GKC. “We are so excited about this collaboration because we feel that our cultures are perfectly aligned, as GKC also believes that the most important part is the team, and we also share the desire to help the world in every possible way.”
“Our team has sought to open permanent showrooms for many years, and previously, we’ve passed on the opportunities to bring kitchens to life,” said Kathy Ireland, CEO & chief designer for kathy ireland Worldwide.
GKC also recently added the Charles Yorke brand to its portfolio, and exclusively represents and displays the English brand throughout its showrooms.
“We are delighted to welcome the German Kitchen Center as our exclusive retailer for the American market,” said Charles Yorke Sales Director James Ellis. “We’ve been looking for the right retail partner for some time and believe we have found that with Mayan and his team.”
This fall, GKC also opened a newly renovated showroom in the trendy Red Hook section of Brooklyn, NY, the company reported. The new 8,000-sq.-ft. showroom offers a number of premium lines, including Stosa kitchens and GKC-brand kitchens manufactured by Nobilia, company officials said.
“We envision our Red Hook location to serve as the European value premium capital of America, offering two of the leading high-level European kitchen lines in the U.S. out of Germany and Italy at attractive pricing,” said Metzler.
Kitchens from GKC’s portfolio of ultra-luxury and premium brands, such as Charles Yorke, will also be available to order, the company added.
