BEFORE
For homeowners who love to entertain, this vacation home kitchen full of heavily ornate, dated stained oak cabinets and trim was hardly the ideal setting for a lively party. Additionally, the homeowners desired a space that would give them the relaxing sensation of being at a West Coast resort. In order to create the space of their dreams, Jessica Soldner of Discrete Designs worked with the homeowners to renovate the kitchen, dining room, living room, sunroom and hallway of the home.

AFTER
After showing the clients a sneak peek of their renovated space using computer-animated 3D renderings, Soldner’s team got to work demoing, salvaging and rehoming the well-made but ill-suited cabinetry. The upper cabinetry was completely eliminated and replaced with self-serve areas, a beverage center and floating wood shelves. A concrete-textured backsplash extends all the way to the ceiling, providing an illusion of spaciousness and lending a sleek, modern feel to the space, while a butcher block addition to the Cambria countertops provides plenty of seating for guests.
