John Petrie, CMKBD, owner and designer of Mother Hubbard’s Custom Cabinetry, in Mechanicsburg, PA, is known for his untiring devotion to sharing his expertise and leadership to keep the kitchen and bath industry thriving. He teaches and mentors his designers to be the best versions of themselves so that they can serve the community to the best of their ability.
Having earned his CKD, CBD and CMKBD credentials from the NKBA by the age of 27, Petrie goes the extra mile to share his knowledge and make sure kitchen and bath professionals are at the top of their game, encouraging them to participate in continuing education and training events.
He served as national NKBA president in 2014 and was involved in the behind-the-scenes work to co-locate the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show and the International Builders Show. He understood how the association between the two events would help KBIS thrive, and he worked hard to help make it happen, serving as president the year Design & Construction Week came to life. He is the only second-generation NKBA president; his father, Les Petrie, served as president in 2003.
He also participates in numerous NKBA discussions and is a subject-matter expert in areas such as the NKBA badge program and certification.
