For more than 26 years, Jolynn Johnson, CMKBD, CAPS, CLIPP, president, Crystal Kitchen + Bath (CK+B) in Crystal, MN has been developing and working with clients for aging in place. She offers kitchen seminars at her CK+B facility on topics such as “How to avoid the biggest kitchen and bath remodeling mistakes” and “Remodeling your kitchen and bath with aging in place in mind.”
Community involvement also is a priority for Johnson. For example, CK+B remodeled an apartment for Avivo, a Minneapolis organization that specializes in providing services to women who find themselves struggling with addiction. Materials and labor were donated for the project. In addition, Johnson has been to Haiti on a mission trip to rebuild a home for a family that lost their’s in an earthquake.
Graduating from Alexandria Technical & Community College in 1982 with an interior design degree specializing in kitchen and baths, she started working for Crystal Kitchen Center and in 1994 purchased the company. Johnson, who also holds a contractor’s license in Minnesota, went on to win 2014 Remodeler of the Year from The Builders Association of the Twin Cities.
