K/BIS 2004 Draws Record Attendance, NKBA
Chicago The 2004 Kitchen/Bath Industry Show and Conference (K/BIS),
held here last month, drew record numbers of attendees, show
sponsors announced. More than 51,000 kitchen and bath industry
professionals on hand for the four-day event.
The show, which was held at Chicago’s McCormick
Place, featured over 850 regional and national suppliers showcasing
their wares across more than 40,000 feet of exhibit space,
according to Hackettstown, NJ-based show co-sponsor, the National
Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA).
A new location Las Vegas was also announced for the
2005 K/BIS, which will take place May 10-12 at the Las Vegas
Convention Center. Following that, the show will rotate between
Chicago and Las Vegas, rather than returning to Orlando, show

highlighted at the 2004 K/BIS were cabinetry; solid surfacing,
laminates, nature and engineered stone, ceramic tile and related
countertop materials; plumbing fixtures; appliances; sinks and
faucets, and decorative and functional hardware.
In addition to a revamped set of keynote speakers
and professional development courses, roundtable discussions and
special events, some of the highlights of this year’s K/BIS
Kitchen & Bath Design News’ publisher, Eliot
Sefrin, presenting the 2004 Student Scholarship awards at the NKBA
Board of Directors Gala. The NKBA’s 2004 Design Competition award
winners were also highlighted during the gala.
A New Product Pavilion spotlighting some of the
most innovative new products on display, all in one location for
easy one-stop viewing.
The NKBA Business Meeting and Luncheon, which
featured keynote addresses from Gary Uhl, Robin Levien and Marc
Sadler, all from American Standard. The program looked at the
effects that social factors have on design in the U.S and Europe;
the public’s feeling of security; the development of more
“grounded” works of design and the process of creating new
products, among other topics.
