Kimberly Kerl, owner, Kustom Home Design, in Greer, SC, inspires her colleagues through her work as an NKBA leader and creative thinker. She shares 27 years of design and business experience with colleagues through “Voices of the Industry” classes, CEU presentations and interviews with industry publishers. Kerl has also fostered a culture of collaboration within the kitchen and bath industry through her work with NKBA and by helping local suppliers create referral networks for products they don’t sell.
Recently, she partnered with a local appliance store to create a unique kitchen-design course for homeowners and kitchen and bath professionals who want to up their design game. This course educates homeowners on the design process and provides the tools needed to move forward with a kitchen design or renovation.
After opening her own residential design firm in 2012, Kerl volunteered as an officer with her local Piedmont Blue Ridge Carolina NKBA chapter and will be serving her eighth year as an officer with that chapter. Even though she served two consecutive terms as president and believed her business could use more of her attention, she made the move to stay on another term once the COVID-19 pandemic hit and another volunteer could not be found.
