NAR BUSTAMANTE and ASHLEE RICHARDSON
Nar Fine Carpentry, Inc., Carmichael, CA
The clean, minimalist lines featured throughout this master bath design by Nar Bustamante and Ashlee Richardson of Nar Fine Carpentry, Inc. in Carmichael, CA, are decidedly Asian in influence, providing a tranquil retreat.
The homeowners wanted to keep an existing garden window in the shower for beautiful natural light. The issue of privacy from the side yard was solved through the use of landscaping and art. A custom metal trellis sculpture was constructed outside of the garden window, and a local artisan created a concrete cast Buddha face that was attached to the trellis. A fast-growing vine will wind up the structure around the Buddha face to create tranquil beauty for the bathing area.
A tub sits below the garden window, finished with a surround in Arizona Tile’s Fibra Linen tile. The tile continues along the shower wall, which features Hansgrohe’s Raindance Unica S Wallbar shower fittings and Touch Sunset from Arizona Tile on the floor. A frameless glass panel partially closes the shower from the rest of the space to prevent water from entering the main bath.
The vanity showcases a horizontal rift white oak in natural finish that mimics the look of the wall tile. It is topped with Caesarstone quartz countertops in Pure White, with Mirabelle sink and Hansgrohe PuraVida faucet. Aspen and Europa hardware from Top Knobs, Cinu towel bar from Ginger and Illuminating Experiences’ Elf 1 Plus wall sconces finish off the space.
To make the water closet less like its original cave-like space, white textured melamine cabinets from Columbia were installed to brighten the room while adding storage. A Duravit Happy D.2 toilet is also featured.
