Bicoastal designer advocates for diversity and inclusion
Nu Interiors’ owner, Nureed Saeed, envisions spaces that meet her three key design tenets: Form, Function and Comfort. The goal is to bring a home filled with love and purpose to her clients.
Although originally from the New Jersey/Pennsylvania/New York tri-state area, Saeed now resides and designs in northern California, though she continues to actively design on both coasts, and maintains an East Coast base in New Jersey. She brings a background in fashion merchandising to her business, where she was a buyer of luxury brands like Loro Piana, Ferragamo and Cartier, then a merchant and branding expert to full lifestyle brands like Ralph Lauren, Kenneth Cole and Greg Norman. She has spent her career merging style, taste, quality and project management into creating a well-balanced product and now home. She has a mix of high-end taste with “roll-up-your-sleeve” resourcefulness, using found items and historic artifacts in her designs.
In addition to her design work, Saeed is a vocal advocate for inclusion in not only the design industry, but in housing as well, where residential segregation is a real and ongoing problem, she notes. She has received a certificate in Diversity and Inclusion from Cornell University ILR School, and also volunteers regularly in her community and participates in multiple charitable causes.
