MINNEAPOLIS — Home improvement and do-it-yourself projects were in high gear in 2020 as the COVID-19 pandemic took hold, with a significant amount of the work that’s being planned for 2021 involving the assistance of home-improvement professionals, a newly released consumer study finds.
According to a poll conducted by Minneapolis-based Axiom Marketing, 90% of homeowner respondents say they will spend as much or more time on home-related projects this year compared to 2020. Overall, 56% of survey respondents said they will hire a professional for all or part of the projects planned “in the near future,” the survey also found.
“We’re seeing home improvement continuing to grow in the coming year,” said Axiom Marketing spokesperson Stacy Einck. “That expectation of growth is good news for home improvement professionals. It’s also a bright side of the COVID-19 pandemic,” Einck said.
