KBDN is saddened to report the death of Scott Koehler, CKD, who passed away Saturday, July 23 at his home in Pinehurst, NC after a battle with pancreatic cancer. Koehler was an instrumental member of the kitchen and bath design community as both a designer and a technology expert who shared his knowledge with the design community.
A graduate of Slippery Rock University, Koehler worked in industrial and computer sales before becoming a licensed general contractor and certified kitchen and bath designer. He worked with his brother, Tim Koehler, at My Dream Kitchen in Greensboro, NC for several years and, while in Greensboro, was president of the Greensboro Builders Association, chairman of the Remodelers Council of the Greensboro Builders Association and was a founder of the Tour of Remodeled Homes.
Stepping away from the kitchen and bath industry for a time, Koehler gained knowledge and expertise in emerging technologies, including cloud computing and mobile business solutions. In 2013 he relaunched his design career and applied technology to his new business, Dream Kitchen Builders, a design/build firm in Pinehurst, NC.
Koehler was actively involved in educating members of the industry through presentations at the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show as well as at training throughout the U.S. on subjects including cloud computing, kitchen automation and mobile apps. He was a contributing writer for a number of industry trade magazines, including Kitchen & Bath Design News, and was named a KBDN Innovator in 2018. He also served on Design Councils for Signature Kitchen Suite and Beko.
Scott Koehler is survived by his wife, Gwen, and his extended family.
