Contemporary Bath
Paul Bentham, Jennifer Gilmer Kitchen & Bath, Chevy Chase, MD
Upon entering this space, the eye is immediately drawn to the focal point of the room – the beautiful eucalyptus wood double vanity that is flanked by floor-to-ceiling storage cabinets. That was the goal for Paul Bentham of Jennifer Gilmer Kitchen & Bath in Chevy Chase, MD, who needed to make this 71-sq.-ft. space open and bright yet provide a touch of drama.
The vanity, created by Premier Custom Built Cabinetry using Fumed European Larch Horizontal Grain eucalyptus wood, is set off by all-white elements, including the Stone & Wild World Artic White Quartz Stone countertop and Kohler Reve Vessel sinks, paired with Qubic Tre brushed nickel wall-mount faucets from Graff. Along the wall, large mirrors enhance the room’s open feel, and they sit upon the WOW Design Matte White Arch XL ceramic tile, which features a texturally interesting basket-weave pattern.
Thassos Aspen White Honed Marble tile flooring is carried throughout the room, including under the Kohler Veil toilet with hung bowl in white in the water closet.
A large 8’x4′ shower was created including Metallica Brown large-format porcelain tile on the back wall that reflects the color of the vanity, opposite. The adjacent shower walls feature WOW Design Matte White Liso XL Ceramic Tile, the flat version of the basketweave tile at the vanity, to provide a cohesive look within the space.
The Metallic Brown mosaic tile is used on the shower floor, which features a linear drain tucked into a quartz curb. The shower includes a Kohler 10″ Rain Overhead Four 22-Nozzle Spray heads in brushed nickel, the Brizo Siderna Raincan Collection with H2OKinetic Technology Showerhead and Shower Arm, and Graff Qubic Tre Thermostatic Trim shower kit. Custom glass shower sliding doors allow the tile work to be displayed, tying the room together.
